How do I write good quiz questions?

First off, read the article and develop an understanding of the medical content within it.  When writing questions, try to focus on the main points and clinical take-aways of the article and NOT simple trivia from the article itself.  

A good question might be something like:

• "This article demonstrated that chlordiazepoxide compared to more commonly used benzodiazepines for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal resulted in:"

A poor question which may result in the rejection of the submission may be similar to:

• "How many patients were enrolled in this study?"
• "What type of study design did the authors use?"

These questions are simply trivia and don't have any information or learning that a practicing physician can apply to his or her practice.
